Who We Are: Dinontas
At Dinontas, we believe no Veteran should go without the basics. The word Dinontas comes from the Greek word for giving, granting, providing - and these words are the heart of everything we do.
Founded in 2019 by Lieutenant Ron Cimo, Dinontas was born out of a desire to bridge the gap many Veterans face when returning home. Too often, service members transition out of the military only to find themselves without a stable support system and struggle to meet everyday needs such as clean clothing, toiletries, and basic necessities.
Since our start, Dinontas has proudly provided 85,000 items to more than 8,500 Veterans, and we continue to grow thanks to our generous donors, dedicated volunteers, and passionate community. But our work doesn’t stop here - we know there’s more we can do.
Expanding Our Reach
Up until now, Dinontas has relied heavily on in-person events, outreach, and partnerships to connect with Veterans. While these efforts have had a tremendous impact, we recognize that not every Veteran has access to these opportunities.
Some live in rural communities with limited resources, while others may be overseas or in areas without Veteran service hubs. And many others still may simply miss events due to work, family obligations, or lack of transportation.
That’s why we’re proud to introduce a new way to serve - one that removes barriers and brings support directly to Veterans wherever they are.
Our New Initiative
Our new initiative, the “Request a Box” feature allows Veterans to receive a personalized package of clothing and essentials - shipped straight to their doorstep. It is a simple process designed to ensure dignity, accessibility, and consistency.
Here’s how it works:
Fill out the form - Veterans (or someone on their behalf) can submit a request through our website. The form includes details such as name, address, clothing sizes, and any special needs.
We prepare your box - Dinontas staff and volunteers carefully assemble a package with new clothing and essential items, tailored to the information provided.
We ship within 14 business days - Once processed, the box is mailed directly to the Veteran, eliminating the need for them to travel or wait for a local event.
This feature ensures that location is no longer a barrier. Whether a Veteran is across town or across the globe, they now have a direct line to the support Dinontas provides.
